second chance

When I was 15 I was a moody, whiney teenager. I refused to wear anything but "skate" brands and liked my t-shirts black. I was a girl who knew what she wants and when things didn't go my way I was to be avoided like the plague. My parents still loved me though... even though I probably made their lives miserable for those couple years.
The setting is August 2005. Livingston, Montana.
My parents had planned a trip for the family so my dad could go to the Fly Fishing Conclave in Livingston. While he was there, we would run around and explore Yellowstone National Park.
My dear friend Tina had just come home from a vacation to Yellowstone, that famous caldera
that is home to Old Faithful and the Morning Glory Pool. All she had to say was that "it stunk (literally) and was boooooring."
MEANWHILE, all my cousins were at the cabin in Lake Blaine, MT. There was nowhere I would have rather been than at that lake. Much to my dismay, my parents were insistent that I join the rest of the family on our vacation. So I did it, but not without a lot of whining.

I didn't love Yellowstone then. It was just as Tina said: stinky and boring. However, I have since matured and even taken some geology classes so now I find Yellowstone really interesting and seriously beautiful. I loved camping this weekend with Blakey for the FIRST TIME. I wanted to stay longer than the 3 days we camped, but alas...
we fed my parents breakfast TWICE because they brought us a brand new
tent.
we found this SASQUATCH at our campsite! please notice all our new camp gear: tent, air
matress, sweet camp stove.
this sums up the weather we had. cloudy, cold and rainy for the most part.
yay Old Faithful! it was pouring rain when she was going off.
We saw this wolf in the wild! Just kidding, I wish. Blake and I are both "wolf enthusiasts" to say the least, so we had to go to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. It was seriously awesome and Blake's favorite part of the trip. My favorite part? My new nightie.

  2. Let us not forget that I was the same "hardcore" teenager that you were in those days and there was someone on our Yellowstone trip with us that year that, frankly, sucked.

Maybe I'd appreciate it more now too? Now that I'm all grown up and mature?
